Our crew excavates to proper depth, typically 8 to 12 inches depending on soil conditions. We use compacted gravel base layers, geotextile fabric where needed, and proper pitch for water drainage. Clay soil drainage is the other factor. Most properties in Warren and Morris County have heavy clay underneath. Clay holds water, which means it moves more during freeze thaw cycles. We account for that with drainage planning on every hardscape project.
